It is possible that you, like great many website owner, did not build your website with Search Engines in mind. Should that be your case, your website's existing web pages may be close to impossible to optimize. Yes, they may be "patched up"; but it is not coherent to do such a thing and realistically expect a website top rankings.
Ignoring what cyber creatures want is what prevents top rankings of a website achieved. In other words, designing web pages disregarding what spiders want to find is what does not permit efficient optimization. Should you still insist in optimizing your existing web pages, your option is to hire a Web Designer. Then, you coordinate his work with that of a certified Search Engine Specialist. Most likely, all you are doing is "to patch things up achieving nothing more than compromises". After you gave money away, invested lots of time, and gained a few headaches and aggravations, you learn that spiders do not like compromises.
There are two wise actions you can take other than simplistic patch-ups.
* Firstly, you move web pages such as Contact Us,
About Us, Privacy & Legal Policies, FAQ, Sign Up For
Our Newsletter ~and similar web pages~ to a folder
dedicated to them. Using a "robots.txt" file, you tell
spiders to stay away from that folder.
* Secondly, you create new web pages using tactics
and techniques known to work with Search Engines.
None of the web pages that I just mentioned have relevant content. Spiders do not like irrelevant content. It is imperative not to let spiders frown upon any web page of your website. It is wiser to have a website with 25 indexed web pages and 12 of them were granted a top ranking ~or more than one for the same web page if you use wiser tactics and techniques~ as opposed to having a website with 85 indexed web pages and 12 were granted a top ranking.
In addition, spiders spend little time when they visit a web site. You do not want them to waste time visiting that kind of irrelevant web pages. You want Search Engines to spend every second of their staying in your web site crawling and indexing only optimized web pages. The ones spiders want to find.
